All across the country, cities like New York and Boston celebrate the diverse culture confined within their borders via prix fixe lunch and dinner menus, but one city takes this fête a furry step further.
In Chicago, restaurants invite hooman and animal residents to indulge in Dog Restaurant Week, a “one-of-a-kind event combining Chicago’s love for food and passion for pets,” according to the event’s website
Not only can diners bring their pups, but participating restaurants will be donating up to 7 percent of their proceeds to Chicago-based rescue group One Tail at a Time, a no-kill rescue group whose mission it is to lower rates of euthanasia in Chicago.
This is Chicago’s second year hosting Dog Restaurant Week, so perhaps both its success and good-natured intentions will rub off on fellow restaurant weeks and spark a movement a la canine. For now, Chicagoans may revel in the glorious week that is Dog Restaurant Week while we fellow dog lovers look on longingly from afar.
